Konami fail in fixing PC issues

Talarin brings news of a massive Konami fail in PES2010 and what it means for us poor hard done by gamers.
article_main It was with great interest I saw that the PESFan thread discussing the current PC online problems had gone into a frenzy and I was expecting to be able to write better news regarding the ongoing AMD vs. Intel online issue.

However, what I wasn't expecting was this below:

So to summarise this news; Konami are going to release a patch on Tuesday coming which will simply stop quick-matches from pairing up users with different processors. So no fix, no idea of whether a fix is coming - simply the worst excuse for a work-around that I have ever seen from a game developer.

This is a continuation of a long series of FAIL from Konami after the joke that has been the online section of the game since they moved to their Next Gen engine and centralised server system in PES2008.

It's made all the more galling by the fact that when they finally got back to direct IP connections for online (rather than everything being routed through Japan) they find a whole new way of screwing up what I feel has been the best incarnation of the game yet.

While I have my theories about how this particular issue has come about (console porting - I'm looking at you), I don't think it unreasonable to have expected Konami to have done more to fix the problem since it was originally acknowledged a fortnight ago.

I will keep you posted as news develops, but I think that it's fair to say that FIFA is being looked at a little more carefully in 2011.
