A Maths Problem (try it.)

This is an oldy but a goody.

Let's say you're on a gameshow, infront of you are 3 doors.
Behind one door is a Bugatti Veyron and behind the other two are goats.

You don't know where the prize of the car lies so the host offers some help.

You can pick one door and he'll then open one of the remaining two to reveal a goat.
(The host knows what is behind each door.)

The question is...should you switch from your original guess?

It's an interesting situation. (This material in this article was originally published in PARADE magazine in 1990 and 1991.)
Article here.

Thoughts and additional "puzzles" like this are welcome.
"And so is the Golden City blackened With each step you take in my Hall. Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting. You have brought Sin to Heaven And doom upon all the world."

If I recall correctly, the answer is "yes". Damned if I can remember why?
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

That article explains why. Mr Green

I hate "hosts" messing with the brilliance of probability mathematics.
