Fair point - but consider this - FIFA was shit. Really, truly awful. It also had a list of problems of its own.

However, there may be hope for it this year - EA have finally given up with the "PCs can't cope with our game engine" bollocks and are producing a next-gen version.

For me, at least, it will come down to demos.

Major news:

Demo released on PC on 15th September 2010 and will be downloadable on www.konami-pes2011.com.

Official release date is 8th October 2010.

There will be 4 v 4 online.

ML Online - take your Master League team onto the net in competitions.

Major revamp to the net-code (which of course we've heard before - but it appears to be true; at least for the PS3/XB360 consoles which have been running a ML-online beta for a couple of months now with a lot of comments that it seems very solid).

BAL mode has been improved, with specific tactical instructions given to players and multi-year contracts in place.

Spurs are a officially licensed team.

UEFA Competitions now fully licensed and implemented.

Copa Liberadoes (aka South American Champions League)

Passing system completely revamped - might take some getting used to but broadly speaking seems to be receiving favourable comments.

Full 360 degree movement for players and passing

Revamp of the skills/tricks system

For comparison, the FIFA 11 demo also came out today. Linkage the 2nd. Quite similar to PES in the fact that it is the first PC version based on a next gen engine.

Installing PES as a type, will download and try FIFA later.

As I said - you need some context to understand why you've truly and terribly failed (you idiot ). The "next-gen" version of FIFA is far superior to the cut-down (i.e. PS2) version of the game which we've had on the PC for the last two or three incarnations. (FYI: It's EA themselves who call it the 'next gen' engine. See: NEXT GEN console football game engine arrived for EA Sports FIFA 11 PC)

I've played both games on the different platforms. Trust me when I say that I know more about this game than you.

Literally only first impressions, only played a couple of games on both.

But as of now i'd go for FIFA. PES is still OK but it's just the same game it has been for the past few years with the odd tweak, albiet a bit more extreme this year.

I like the combo thing with step over and the like.

I bought and installed this. First impression is quite good.

I created an online community : LowStress (password = lowercase 'our usual')

My interweb is still blocked by some demented router, I called up the bloody people only to find out that they didn't upgrade me last time (as I thought) but they delivered and installed the wrong type ...
And they called me "user" ! New one ordered for somewhere next week.
I did get to play an online game however (lost 0-1 in the last minute to some random Italian, scoring seems very hard right now), so it works only a bit slow again. Hopefully one of you bastards will find the patience to play a game with me tonight.
