My two contributions to that story: 1, 2. There's certainly plenty of fun to be had out there for free, if you're short on a budget/especially stingy.

Incidentally, Freespace 2 is one on the free list!

Yer, absolute bargain price. To be honest the freebie version of FreeSpace 2 was a real arse to set up, as were the TA Spring spin-off projects. GOG games are just so easy - download, install, play. Yay!

And if anyone wishes to, ahem, test some out, I've collected a little library on there, so just gimme a buzz.
