A fun mix of Team Fortress 2 and Defense of the Ancients. The seemingly odd mix works well, and along with the low price and the ease of accessibility, Monday Night Combat is a unique offering on Xbox Live Arcade: a shooter that doesn't loudly claim to be the new challenger to Modern Warfare 2's throne, bur rather is content with being its own thing. If Uber Entertainment keeps on adding content and fine tuning the balancing, this should keep fans of team based shooters happy for a long while. |

It can be too easy to write something off merely as a combination of popular ideas, but Monday Night Combat handily outstrips the sum of its parts, presenting a fresh, fun take on class-based shooters. There are so many variables -- twelve players, numerous bots, turrets, unique map features -- that it's hard to imagine a match playing out the same way twice. |

Overall the frustration factor feels very low for a competitive shooter, yet at the same time it's very hardcore skill-based, so it can appeal to all skill levels. Even when we lost matches or got crappy kill/death ratios, we were still having fun, which can't be said for a lot of shooters out there. |

Did you actually try this/hear any trustworthy views?
I got a 24-hour pass and gave it a whirl, didn't really get into though. There seemed to be a lot you could do even with the one character I was playing, and there were quite a few to choose from. Aside from having 3 weapons, there were also charges and twists and things instead of the usual melee weapons.
The inclusion of random bots to kill made the game feel a bit less intense - even if you were doing shit like me, you could still feel like you'd at least killed something, however small. But the learning curve was too much for a couple of hours' action, so pretty hard to tell if it was actually any fun or not.

It's on my list of games to buy, as soon as I finish Metro 2033 (which got sidelined for Dead Space 2) then I'll pick up MNC.

Ok played this today.
Its quite good fun really. A lot more forgiving and daft than most team based shooters.
Definately a lot less tense and agro tastic than L4D.
Its a bit like teamfortress but with a reason for being, all be it a daft one
The combat is well thought out with all the chars having different skills and weapons. A rounded team would have to give some thought about what classes to take.
The single player is very much inline with Unreal tornament, infact the whole game is along those lines but a lot more tounge in cheek and possess the humor that Unreal so desperately needed.
It looks like a cracking game for some team based PvP. I can see us setting a mini league up, with our good friends over the Iron curtain. Even some inter clan shenanigans would be open aswell.
Over all I would rate it 8.3/10

I like these calm moments before the storm. They remind me of Beethoven.
