Where does my money go?

I probably could comment, but my brain is frazzled at the moment, so I'll just paste a link to this article from over at Eurogamer on the cost of computer games, and who's getting what out of the pie.

Where does my money go?

Good article.
Reminds me of when the dude from OnLive (the game streaming service) gave a (long) presentation and one of the things he mentioned was where the money spent on games goes.

I can't see the figures on the slide properly because it's grainy but here's what I can see:

Game sells for $60, publisher gets $27, retailer gets $15, publisher has to allocate $7 for returns, $7 for advertising, $4 distribution costs, $3 platform royalties, $12 piracy, $12 used games.

Big companies like EA get less than half of the $60.

(28 minutes in.)

But if the game is sold OnLive, then OnLive get $25 and EA + co get $35.
OnLive = no used games, something publishers like... and no piracy, something publishers LOVE.
