Fix Versus

Take a look at the L4D2 forums, there's A LOT of moaning and complaints about the current state of the Versus mode.

The opening posts moans - some of which I'd agree with:

Charger hit detection. I don't care if it's lag, the fact you can clip through 4 Survivors in an incredibly narrow hallway and not hit anyone is just amazing. Hit detection should favour Infected, they're the ones with collision attacks.

Spitter damage. Why do the first 5 "hits" when the spit first lands do 0 damage? If it says I hit them, then they should be damaged! I don't care if it's 1, at least something so that Survivors take SOME damage!

Ability to deadstop hunter pounces above 15 bonus damage. It's hard enough to find those spots, let alone land them; why suffer more by allowing it to be dead stopped?

Boomer bile not properly registering (hitting Survivors in the back but not the one in front of you)
Jockey recharge time after an incap is WAY too long. Smokers and Chargers are both better then the Jockey and don't have an absurd recharge.

Tier 2 damage normalization. A bullet is a bullet, with the close quarters fighting we see in L4D2, whether I shoot something in the head or chest with an M-16 or an Uzi, they're still dead with just one bullet, or they should be; the only difference should be effective range, accuracy, rate of fire, reload time, magazine size, and reserve ammo. A weapon being better than another simply because it does more damage per second is just ridiculous, ESPECIALLY when such an upgrade is given for free on the main path and in Safe room 3 (where as L4D1 didn't give them in safe rooms until map 4), with nothing comparable given to Infected.

Wandering witch aggro radius. Why is it so terrible; is she somehow blinded and deafened by the sun?

Why is Swamp Fever so damn broken seven months after release? WHY!?

Hard Rain sucks, period. Too many items, levels are too small.

No water slow down. Like, jeez, why design a concept to make campaigns artificially longer / more difficult, then take it out?

Really not a fan of this kind of "whine whine" post you see all over teh interwebs, but there's a lot of good points on the first page of that thread:

- remove the health items at the ENDING safe room. Nothing is more infuriating to have a team limping into the safe room (on Vanilla mind you), having two guys heal, bolt out, and heal the other two Survivors that are BW and low on health.

- Lower the pill/adrenaline spawn density. On Vanilla there is just too many temp health items available coupled with the amount of kits that are found. DeC2 and TP3 would like a word with you.

- Lower the throwable spawning density.

- Reduce SI respawn timers to 20 seconds.

- Remove the AI Tank when it first spawns. Have it remain in ghost mode until a player takes control over it and allow it 3 seconds of god mode OR have it spawn in ghost mode and have a player spawn the Tank with a sizable spawning radius. Nothing is worse then taking over a Tank that is already burning.

- Increase the Tank's running speed while on fire. When he's lit give me a 25% (or something) speed boost so that he can actually catch up to the Survivors instead of SLOWING DOWN (seriously Valve?) when he becomes a TOWERING INFERNO (achievement unlocked).

- Allow there to be a menu in which the Tank can surrender control to another player. Sometimes players DON'T want to be the Tank because they know that they're bad at it.

- Versus. Water. Slow. Down. Hard Rain 4 is nothing but a race.

- Increase the Wandering Witch's aggro rate. On Vanilla I can walk by her, sit down, read War and Peace, yell a few obscenities, and run away before she even starts attacking.

- On the Witch's death summon a horde. She's a special female SI, she should have a special event on death since her cry is ****ING LOUD like an incoming horde attack.

- Allow throwables to be passed to other players like they are pills.

Well, you've actually just cut and paste verbatim someone else's post. I've been through it, and only included (from a few posts) the things that I think need modified.

I'd probably surrender control of the tank every-time if it became an option.

The one thing I really strongly agree with is the hit detection. The amount of times I seemed to have jumped through a survivor with a charger or jockey can't just be my piss poor aim
