Konami acknowledges Intel vs. AMD problem

Talarin brings news from the PESfan.com forums posted by members of Konami regarding the PC AMD verus. Intel online problem.
article_main Since the launch of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, PC users have noticed a series of strange disconnections when they have been playing online (usually due to "unforseen circumstances" ). Over time, it became apparent that this happened when players with one make of CPU played against someone with another make (in 99.9% of cases that was AMD versus Intel).

We'd normally expect Konami to ignore the problem (or at least not acknowledge it in any way) before either releasing a patch which then went on to break other things or just leaving the feature in place until the next version.

However, I spotted the recent post in the pesfan.com forums:

I've collected enough data from you guys, thank you all very much for providing it. I have heard from the dev team that they are investigating it. I think that we will be able to make an official announcement today or at the latest next week.

This was followed by a post on the official Konami website which you can see here and is quoted below.

Quote:
2009.10.30 Online play using PC\'s with different processor types.

We regret to inform our customers that the likelihood of being disconnected while playing online increases when players use PC\'s with CPU\'s made by different manufacturers.
We are already aware of this problem and are working towards a solution.

In the meantime, we have rearranged the lobbies as an emergency measure and such lobbies will be named EN-01(I) and EN-01(A) accordingly.

However, please note that in Quick Match, customers will be matched up regardless of the type of prosessor.

We would like to express our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience and confusion caused. We will also be informing you of any updates to this situation.

This is a remarkably pro-active response from Konami and leads me to hope that a patch will be with us shortly.
